Information on the calibration of newly purchased equipment and what it means to you.
Calibration and its certification comes in varying forms on new equipment and in this section, we will break it down into the three areas that we use to classify calibration state at the point of purchase.
Manufacturers Calibration Certificate
This is a calibration certificate offered by the manufacturer supplied with the tester. This is also known as an end-of-line certificate or manufacturer’s certificate. These certificates vary depending on the manufacturer and product. They will not have your company's name on them and don’t always show proven test results.
Where applicable we will include the following statement relating to the item/s on the products page under the heading *Important Calibration Information.
This instrument comes complete with the manufacturer's calibration certificate. Please be aware that these certificates are generic and may also be time-lapsed.
If you would prefer a personalised full traceable calibration certificate applied to the equipment before dispatch, then please select this option from the drop-down menu above, an additional calibration charge will apply.Manufacturers Certificate of Conformity
A manufacturer's certificate of conformity is not a calibration certificate. It is merely a statement that the equipment has been produced to operate within its intended application, it has no traceable certificate or constitutes any defined results for accuracy before leaving the manufacturing process.
Where applicable we will include the following statement relating to the item/s on the products page under the heading *Important Calibration Information.
This instrument comes with a ‘manufacturer's certificate of conformity’. It is important to understand that this does NOT constitute a ‘calibration certificate’. A certificate of conformity merely states that the equipment has been designed and produced to meet the requirements of its intended application.
Where calibration of an instrument is possible we will offer this as a separately purchasable item and may be selected from the drop-down box above. You will be sent a full traceable calibration certificate produced in our laboratory and applied with your details as required.Personalised traceable calibration certificate from isswww
This is a calibration certificate created by us at ISS. This certificate is fully traceable to national and international standards. The certificate will show your company's details, tester information, proven test results and the equipment used to carry out the test. Nearly 90% of all calibrations we do are done in-house in one of our many fully equipped laboratories. You can add this service to your order on the product page before you checkout.
Where applicable we will include the following statement relating to the item/s on the products page under the heading *Important Calibration Information.
We are on occasion able to offer FREE calibration on certain products at their point of sale (newly purchased equipment only) please look out for the following badge on the product's page to take advantage of this free offer.

Chauvin Arnoux VX0100 BioTest LF Electrical Field Tester
Suitable for use in the home or around the office, Chauvin Arnoux VX0100 is used to test the amount of electromagnetic pollution given off by electrical equipment.
With an increased frequency measurement and accuracy range, the VX0100 field tester is a high-quality instrument that displays results on a 2000-count backlit LCD complete with automatic selection of measurement range.
The VX0100 field emission tester is ideal not only for employers but also for electricians, PAT testers, and those working in the housing and industry sectors, providing instant indication of electromagnetic pollution from electrical power distribution inside housing and offices as well as equipment connected including electrical cables, computers, printers and lighting through its external antenna.
The VX0100 Comes Supplied With:
- Chauvin Arnoux VX0100 BioTest LF Electric Field Tester
- External Field and Cable Detection Antenna (HX0100)
- 5m Earth Cable (HX0103)
- Socket Tester
- Hard Carrying Case (270 x 195 x 65mm) - HX0109
Key Features:
- Two measurement modes: representative (takes into account user's magnetic field) or traditional (fields references to earth)
- Test pollution generated by electrical power distribution from 0 to 3kHz
- Test pollution generated by connected equipment from 3 to 100kHz
- Removable external antenna for field measurement and cable detection
- Ideal for testing the magnetic fields given off by electrical power distribution, electrical cables, surge protectors, computers, lighting, and more
- Made in compliance with a wide variety of standards including IEEE C95.6-2000, European DIrectives, and others
- Measurement range from 10Hz to 100kHz
- Handheld, portable design
- Battery life of approximately 60 to 80 hours
- 2 year manufacturer's warranty included
- Dual indication - measurements on the LCD screen, plus audible indication when fields are detected
- Delivered with a socket tester for determining phase position and presence of earth
Corrective Action:
A survey must first be carried out so that corrective action can be taken.
- Connect and test the earths of the electrical installation correctly
- Measure the field emission levels
- For equipment not connected to the earth, it is essential to check that the Ph/N is connected the right way around. If they are reversed, the field emission level will be abnormally high.
Electric field intensity is inversely proportional to the distance.
- Make sure that potential field sources remain at a safe distance from areas where people are frequently present.
Various types of equipment designed to limit electric fields are available on the market:
- sheaths prewired with shielded H07-VU phase wires
- shielded wires and cables. These cables provide their full effect when the shielding is connected to the earth network. The electric field is drained to the earth via the shielding.
- equipment casings fitted with a metal screen mounted at the rear. This helps to reduce the overall electromagnetic radiation from the casing, cable, and equipment as a whole.
- bipolar automatic current cut-off devices. These are devices set up downstream of the fuse corresponding to the circuit in the room. They are designed to automatically cut off the voltage causing the electric fields as soon as the last appliance or lamp has been switched off.
They re-establish the current as soon as a switch is activated in the room.
