Information on the calibration of newly purchased equipment and what it means to you.
Calibration and its certification comes in varying forms on new equipment and in this section, we will break it down into the three areas that we use to classify calibration state at the point of purchase.
Manufacturers Calibration Certificate
This is a calibration certificate offered by the manufacturer supplied with the tester. This is also known as an end-of-line certificate or manufacturer’s certificate. These certificates vary depending on the manufacturer and product. They will not have your company's name on them and don’t always show proven test results.
Where applicable we will include the following statement relating to the item/s on the products page under the heading *Important Calibration Information.
This instrument comes complete with the manufacturer's calibration certificate. Please be aware that these certificates are generic and may also be time-lapsed.
If you would prefer a personalised full traceable calibration certificate applied to the equipment before dispatch, then please select this option from the drop-down menu above, an additional calibration charge will apply.Manufacturers Certificate of Conformity
A manufacturer's certificate of conformity is not a calibration certificate. It is merely a statement that the equipment has been produced to operate within its intended application, it has no traceable certificate or constitutes any defined results for accuracy before leaving the manufacturing process.
Where applicable we will include the following statement relating to the item/s on the products page under the heading *Important Calibration Information.
This instrument comes with a ‘manufacturer's certificate of conformity’. It is important to understand that this does NOT constitute a ‘calibration certificate’. A certificate of conformity merely states that the equipment has been designed and produced to meet the requirements of its intended application.
Where calibration of an instrument is possible we will offer this as a separately purchasable item and may be selected from the drop-down box above. You will be sent a full traceable calibration certificate produced in our laboratory and applied with your details as required.Personalised traceable calibration certificate from isswww
This is a calibration certificate created by us at ISS. This certificate is fully traceable to national and international standards. The certificate will show your company's details, tester information, proven test results and the equipment used to carry out the test. Nearly 90% of all calibrations we do are done in-house in one of our many fully equipped laboratories. You can add this service to your order on the product page before you checkout.
Where applicable we will include the following statement relating to the item/s on the products page under the heading *Important Calibration Information.
We are on occasion able to offer FREE calibration on certain products at their point of sale (newly purchased equipment only) please look out for the following badge on the product's page to take advantage of this free offer.

The MTX 3297Ex is a digital multimeter with a Zone 0 classification which complies with European directive 2014/34/UE on explosive (Ex) atmospheres. The MTX 3297Ex fulfils all the requirements related to the operating constraints in sectors such as:
- Petrochemical Refineries: Certain areas within refineries, such as storage tanks, process vessels, or pipelines where highly flammable substances are handled, can fall under Zone 0 classification.
- Chemical Manufacturing Facilities: Specific processing units or storage areas dealing with volatile chemicals or solvents may be designated as Zone 0.
- Fuel Storage and Distribution: Underground storage tanks, fuel depots, or loading areas where flammable fuels are present can be classified as Zone 0.
- Pharmaceutical Laboratories: Laboratories that handle and store highly flammable or volatile substances might fall under Zone 0 classification.
- Oil Rigs – Certain areas within offshore rigs
Type of atmosphere presence | Gas/Vapour Zone | Dust Zone | Instrument Categories |
…permanently or for long periods in normal operation | 0 | 20 | 1 |
…occasionally in normal operation | 1 | 21 | 1,2 |
…accidentally, in the event of dysfunction or for a short time | 2 | 22 | 1,2,3 |
It meets the needs of electrical maintenance teams: tests and troubleshooting inside and outside any hazardous zones with explosive atmospheres, without sacrificing compliance or measurement performance.
Usable outside Ex zones (out of operation), whatever the industrial activity, the MTX 3297Ex is a communicating instrument offering optimum industrial performance. It is possible to record the measurements on a PC by means of the SX-DMM software available for download from the Chauvin Arnoux website free of charge.
Ex certification has been adopted by the countries in the European Union and several other European countries.
IEC Ex certification, developed by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), aims to harmonize and simplify the certification of equipment for hazardous zones worldwide.
Measurements:
• Voltage
• Current
• Resistance (continuity, semiconductor junction)
• Capacitance
• Frequency (duty cycle/pulse width)
• Temperature
• AC/DC current measurement with selection of the I/O ratio
Functions:
Specific measurements:
• VLowZ low-impedance voltage measurement in the presence of "stray" disturbance voltages.
• Low-pass filter for measuring the PWM signal
Functions to help with analysis and diagnostics
• Min, MAX, Peak+ and Peak- functions
• ∆X differential and ∆X/X relative functions
• Duty cycle and pulse width
Additional specifications
• Designed and manufactured in France
• 3-year warranty
Outside explosive zones, the MTX 3297Ex is a high-performance industrial multimeter compliant with the IEC 61010-2-033 standard for work on 1000 V CAT III / 600 V CAT IV electrical installations.
High performance for reliable, accurate measurements whatever the type, shape and amplitude of the signal
• TRMS AC+DC acquisition
• 60,000-count resolution
• 100 MHz bandwidth
• 1 μV resolution for voltage, 0.01 μA resolution for current
• Min, MAX, Peak+ and Peak- functions
• ΔX differential and ΔX /X relative functions
• Low-pass filter for measurement on PWM signals
• VLowZ low-impedance DC voltage in the presence of disturbance voltages
When used with the SX-DMM software for PC, the isolated optical communication allows realtime processing of the data, remote control of the MTX 3297Ex, upgrading and maintenance.
Competion:
With currently only 2 serious contenders in the ATEX multimeter category, we compare those two key machines side by side.
