Information on the calibration of newly purchased equipment and what it means to you.
Calibration and its certification comes in varying forms on new equipment and in this section, we will break it down into the three areas that we use to classify calibration state at the point of purchase.
Manufacturers Calibration Certificate
This is a calibration certificate offered by the manufacturer supplied with the tester. This is also known as an end-of-line certificate or manufacturer’s certificate. These certificates vary depending on the manufacturer and product. They will not have your company's name on them and don’t always show proven test results.
Where applicable we will include the following statement relating to the item/s on the products page under the heading *Important Calibration Information.
This instrument comes complete with the manufacturer's calibration certificate. Please be aware that these certificates are generic and may also be time-lapsed.
If you would prefer a personalised full traceable calibration certificate applied to the equipment before dispatch, then please select this option from the drop-down menu above, an additional calibration charge will apply.Manufacturers Certificate of Conformity
A manufacturer's certificate of conformity is not a calibration certificate. It is merely a statement that the equipment has been produced to operate within its intended application, it has no traceable certificate or constitutes any defined results for accuracy before leaving the manufacturing process.
Where applicable we will include the following statement relating to the item/s on the products page under the heading *Important Calibration Information.
This instrument comes with a ‘manufacturer's certificate of conformity’. It is important to understand that this does NOT constitute a ‘calibration certificate’. A certificate of conformity merely states that the equipment has been designed and produced to meet the requirements of its intended application.
Where calibration of an instrument is possible we will offer this as a separately purchasable item and may be selected from the drop-down box above. You will be sent a full traceable calibration certificate produced in our laboratory and applied with your details as required.Personalised traceable calibration certificate from isswww
This is a calibration certificate created by us at ISS. This certificate is fully traceable to national and international standards. The certificate will show your company's details, tester information, proven test results and the equipment used to carry out the test. Nearly 90% of all calibrations we do are done in-house in one of our many fully equipped laboratories. You can add this service to your order on the product page before you checkout.
Where applicable we will include the following statement relating to the item/s on the products page under the heading *Important Calibration Information.
We are on occasion able to offer FREE calibration on certain products at their point of sale (newly purchased equipment only) please look out for the following badge on the product's page to take advantage of this free offer.

Chauvin Arnoux AC Current Clamp Model C177A
The high-performance CA 6117 offers excellent measurement stability, even in disturbed industrial environments. All the measurements needed to test an electrical installation are available: continuity, resistance, insulation, earth and selective earth, loop impedances, type A and AC RCDs. The CA 6117 can also be used to measure voltage, frequency, current via a clamp, active power, harmonics and phase rotation.
The CA 6117 is also fitted with type-B RCD testing, built-in fuse table and voltage-drop feature.
Designed and manufactured in France, the CA 6117 was developed in compliance with eco-design procedures.
Power Analyser Mode:
In the modern workplace electricians must deal with an array of complex array of work and equipment, by having high spec equipment , such as the CA6117 multi-function tester, they can be prepared for every eventuality encountered. Many MFTs prove sufficient for basic safety testing, but when it comes to fault finding, commissioning and diagnostics, advanced MFTs like the CA6117 come into their own by providing everything the modern electrician needs in one product.
The CA6117 can display voltage, and, by using the optional current clamp, current waveforms while also displaying both peak (max) and RMS values. This proves useful in identifying any waveform distortion, possibly from harmonics or other sources. Power can also be displayed with direction indication for imported or exported power, ideal where microgeneration such as PV systems are present. Power Factor can be measured and seen on the graphical display. These features are essential for those working in modern electrical systems with capacitive, inductive and non-linear loads present. The ability to see these values in real-time assists in quickly diagnosing issues within the installation or supply. They are also essential when configuring or testing equipment such as power factor correction capacitor banks.
Using the voltage input and optional current clamp, the CA6117 has the ability to accurately measure and display Voltage and Current Harmonics up to the 50th harmonic order, performance typically only seen on dedicated power quality analysers or loggers. All modern electrical installations contain non-linear loads which generate harmonics.
These harmonics can cause many issues within installations, such as the overheating and premature failure of equipment. The only way to identify the underlying cause of these issues is by using a meter such as the CA6117 or an expensive power quality analyser or logger. The CA6117 has the ability to display Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), a simple measure of the amount of harmonics present. It can also show each of the 50 individual harmonics in graphical or numerical form. This powerful feature allows the electrician to identify specific harmonic issues and also check the effectiveness of harmonic mitigation measures, such as active harmonic filters.
A stand-out feature of the CA 6117 is its ultra-accurate Earth Fault Loop Impedance (Zs) measurement capability. Unlike most MFTs on the market, the CA 6117 is able to measure Zs to three decimal places and test lead resistance can also be nulled in Zs mode. In heavy duty installations or where working on installations close to the supply transformer, Zs values can be very low. To measure such low values, which are beyony the meaningful range of most MFTs, electricians may have to buy a expensive specialist stand-alone loop tester, but not with the CA 6117 which can measure these values using its normal high current Zs range.
