Description

Metrel A1532 EVSE Electrical Vehicle Charging Point Adapter

The A1532 EVSE adapter is a special accessory intended for testing Mode E3 Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) together with supported METREL installation testers.
It is used for verification of electrical safety and functional testing of EVSE. It is intended for testing Mode 3 EV supply equipment with a type 2 connector.
If used together with the MI 3152 EurotestXC’s AUTO SEQUENCE®, the complete EVSE charging station can be tested (state-by-state) electrically and functionally with a push of a button. It is possible to create a professional station-based report with MESM.

Key Features:

  • Banana socket outputs for connection to a 3-phase installation tester.
  • Voltage indicators on EVSE output.
  • Proximity Pilot resistance selector for simulation of EV cable presence and current rating detection.
  • Control Pilot resistance selector for simulation of electric vehicle status.
  • Socket output for connection to a 1-phase installation tester (Phase 1, Neutral, PE).
  • Type 2 Male Plug connector for connection to EVSE.
  • 6 mA EV RCD support.
  • Functional tests support*.
    EVSE AUTO SEQUENCE® support*.
  • MESM report creation**.
  • Partial support:
  • 6 mA EV RCD
  • EVSE report**
  • Full support:
  • Functional test support
  • EVSE AUTO SEQUENCE® support

The A1532 Comes Supplied With:

  • Instrument EVSE adapter
  • Small soft carrying bag
  • Detailed information and specification sheet.

Typical Applications:

  • On-site testing of EVSE charging station installation.
  • Initial and periodic testing of private, semi-private and public EVSE charging stations.

What is EVSE and Why Does Your Electric Car Need it?

While drivers of electric cars just need to find an electrical outlet that matches the plug on the end of their charging lead, a new charging standard brings a little more sophistication to the mix, in the form of the Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) control.

EVSE is a protocol to help keep you and your electric car safe while charging. Using two-way communication between the charger and car, the correct charging current is set based on the maximum current the charger can provide as well as the maximum current the car can receive.  As part of the protocol, a safety lock-out exists, preventing current from flowing when the charger is not connected to the car.  It ensures that if a cable is not correctly inserted, power will not flow through it.

EVSE can also detect hardware faults, disconnecting the power and preventing battery damage, electrical shorts and fire.

About Metrel

Metrel was established in 1957 as a factory for the production of electrical measuring instruments and components for the domestic market and grew from there to become one of world’s leading manufacturers of measuring and testing equipment. They are one of the few companies in the industry that develops and manufactures products at a single location, starting with design and ending with final assembly, quality control and calibration.
