Chauvin Arnoux CA 6528 1kV Megohmmeter & Digital Multimeter
The CA 6528 insulation and continuity tester is designed for use in the field: lightweight, compact, rugged and easy to handle, even when wearing gloves. It's ergonomics are intended to simplify it's use.
*Important Calibration Information:
This instrument comes with a ‘manufacturer's certificate of conformity’. It is important to understand that this does NOT constitute a ‘calibration certificate’. A certificate of conformity merely states that the equipment has been designed and produced to meet the requirements of its intended application.
Where calibration of an instrument is possible we will offer this as a separately purchasable item and may be selected from the drop-down box above. You will be sent a full traceable calibration certificate produced in our laboratory and applied with your details as required.
CA 6528 Comes Supplied With:
- Hands-free carry bag
- 2 safety leads, 1 red and 1 black
- Set of Crocodile Clips
- Protective Sheath
- 6 x LR6 or AA batteries
- 1 safety datasheet
- 1 quick start guide
- 1 verification certificate
The CA 6528 insulation tester is ideal for maintenance and repair operations on electrical equipment such as motors, cables, etc. Thanks to its "hands-free" bag, the CA 6528 insulation tester can be used without any constraints in the field. The shockproof sheath with stand (props) ensure stability on horizontal surfaces.
The large LCD screen can show the insulation value and the real test voltage simultaneously thanks to its double display. The backlighting makes it easy to read in all circumstances.
The CA 6528 megohmmeter measures resistance, insulation and continuity according to the applicable international standards: IEC 60364, NF C 15-100, VDE 100, etc. The continuity measurement integrates compensation of the cables. Insulation measurement is possible in manual mode, locked mode or programmed-duration mode with the timer. When measuring the voltage, an indicator shows the battery status.
The CA 6528 indicates the test results instantaneously: the screen turns red if the threshold is overrun.
The presence of a hazardous voltage (>30 V) is detected automatically by the CA 6528, which then prohibits insulation testing.
Key Features:
- Double digital display to view the insulation value and real test voltage simultaneously in an easy-to-read format
- 2-colour backlighting
- Shockproof sheath for excellent handling
- Stand for stability when used on a horizontal surface
- Bag with built-in neck strap for hands-free use and to stow your measurement accessories
- Automatic power-off function to optimize the battery life
- Programmable alarm thresholds to view the test result instantaneously
Ergonomics:
The CA 6528 insulation and continuity tester is designed for use in the field: lightweight, compact, rugged and easy to handle, even when wearing gloves. Its ergonomics is intended to simplify its use:

Applications
The CA 6528 is mainly used to check the safety of electrical installations. It measures resistance, insulation and continuity in compliance with the applicable standards: IEC 60364, NF C 15-100, VDE 100, etc. It is also ideal for maintenance and repair of electrical equipment such as motors, cables, etc.
Preventative Maintenance
In addition to the measurements carried out on new and reconditioned equipment during commissioning, regular insulation testing on installations and equipment helps to avoid such incidents through preventive maintenance. These tests detect ageing and premature deterioration of the insulating properties before they reach a level likely to cause problems. The severity of such incidents may affect the safety of people and property, as well as generating production downtime costs in industry.
Measurements
The CA 6528 insulation tester can measure insulation at 250 V / 500 V / 1,000 V, making it ideal for a large number of applications. It offers high-performance insulation resistance measurements up to 11 GΩ, while also measuring resistance up to 420 kΩ and voltage up to 700 VAC/DC. In compliance with the applicable standards, continuity measurement is performed with a test current ≥ 200 mA. This measurement directly integrates automatic compensation of cable resistance for greater accuracy.
Safety
The CA 6528 is a safe instrument. The presence of a hazardous voltage is detected automatically. Insulation measurement in the presence of a voltage greater than 30 V is automatically inhibited, making insulation testing impossible.
Insulation measurement in manual or locked mode or with a duration programmed using the timer Insulation measurement with simultaneous display of the insulation and the real test voltage
