Information on calibration of newly purchased equipment and what it means to you.
Calibration and it's certification comes in varying forms on new equipment and in this section we will break it down into the three areas that we use to classify calibration state at the point of purchase.
Manufacturers Calibration Certificate
This is a calibration certificate offered by the manufacturer supplied with the tester. This is also known as a end of line certificate or manufacturer’s certificate. These certificates vary depending on the manufacturer and product. They will not have your companies name on and don’t always show proven test results.
Where applicable we will include the following statement relating to the item/s on the products page under the heading *Important Calibration Information.
This instrument comes complete with the manufacturer's calibration certificate. Please be aware that these certificates are generic and may also be time-lapsed.
If you would prefer a personalised full traceable calibration certificate applied to the equipment before dispatch, then please select this option from the drop-down menu above, an additional calibration charge will apply.Manufacturers Certificate of Conformity
A manufacturer's certificate of conformity is not a calibration certificate. It is merely a statement that the equipment has been produced to operate within it's intended application, it has no traceable certificate or constitute any defined results for accuracy before leaving the manufacturing process.
Where applicable we will include the following statement relating to the item/s on the products page under the heading *Important Calibration Information.
This instrument comes with a ‘manufacturer's certificate of conformity’. It is important to understand that this does NOT constitute a ‘calibration certificate’. A certificate of conformity merely states that the equipment has been designed and produced to meet the requirements of its intended application.
Where calibration of an instrument is possible we will offer this as a separately purchasable item and may be selected from the drop-down box above. You will be sent a full traceable calibration certificate produced in our laboratory and applied with your details as required.FREE personalised traceable calibration certificate
This is a calibration certificate created by us at ISS. This certificate is fully traceable to national and international standards. The certificate will show your companies details, tester information, proven test results and the equipment used to carry out the test. Nearly 90% of all calibrations we do are done in-house in one of our many fully equipped laboratories. You can add this service to your order on the product page before you checkout.
Where applicable we will include the following statement relating to the item/s on the products page under the heading *Important Calibration Information.
This instrument comes with a FREE personalised traceable calibration certificate. This equipment is supplied by the manufacturer with a basic statement of conformity. We have upgraded the equipment to include a full personalised traceable calibration certificate for you in our laboratory at our expense.
You are advised to renew your calibration annually.Where offered this can be identified by the logo below:

IET Guidance Note 1 Selection and Erection 18th Edition 2018
A fundamental guide for specifiers, installers and those inspecting and testing installations. The book contains clear guidance on how to apply the relevant sections of BS7671 18th Edition.
The 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations is a major update to this title, with changes expected to include an entirely new section, Part 8, Energy Efficiency.
This book is vital for all involved in the electrical industry, including designers, installers, and those involved in testing and inspection of electrical installations. BS 7671:2018 Requirements for Electrical Installations will be issued on 2nd July 2018 and is intended to come into effect on 1st January 2019. Installations designed after 31st December 2018 will have to comply with BS 7671:2018.
PLEASE NOTE: The IET have advised us that the revised publication date for this book is now 30th September 2018 and MAY SLIP FURTHER.
Kindly acknowledge the above before placing your order, publication dates are out of the hands of ISSWWW and we are doing our best to keep you informed on this ever changing situation.
Changes In The 18th Edition
Significant changes include: the requirement for a ‘switching device’ to be implemented in the installation of renewable energy storage systems, recommendations for Arc Fault Detection Devices (AFDDs) in AC final circuits, a change to the requirement for the methods of supporting wiring systems within buildings against their premature collapse in the event of a fire, and requirements for devices for protection against overvoltage and a new appendix focusing on energy efficiency.
Changes have also been made to the requirements for electric vehicle charging installations with PME supplies (the most common form of earthing in new installations) as well as new guidance for the design and erection of electrical installations that have local production and storage of energy for optimising efficiency. Mark Coles, Head of Technical Regulations at the IET, said: “The IET is the authority for electrical installation in the UK and ensures that JPEL/64, the national Wiring Regulations committee carefully considers all necessary updates to the Regulations to ensure they best meet the needs of the industry.
The Regulations apply to the design, erection and verification of electrical installations, also additions and alterations to existing installations. Existing installations that have been installed in accordance with earlier editions of the Regulations may not comply with this edition in every respect. This does not necessarily mean that they are unsafe for continued use or require upgrading.

Orders requiring calibration
Whilst we take the greatest care to get all orders dispatched and delivered to you in the stated time frame, orders received PM and requiringcalibration may on occasion miss dispatch that day, according to the complexity of the calibration. Be assured they will ship on the next dispatch
