Our range of contact voltage detectors are quick and easy to use by simply touching the end of the pen-style detectors onto the item to be tested and taking a reading. If the wire is live the end of the tester will light up in a colour, usually red.
Voltage detectors are used to determine the presence of electricity in a wire. They do this through the principles of conductivity. The metal tip of the pen-shaped tester is touched on the wire and if electricity flows from the device to the wire then it registers as having a voltage.
